cloud-cuckoo-land

Naive idealist's address

Cloud-cuckoo-land is an imaginary place of fantasy and wishful thinking, removed from practical reality.

Someone living in cloud-cuckoo-land has unrealistic ideas or expectations: If you think they'll agree to those terms, you're living in cloud-cuckoo-land.

The term comes from Aristophanes' comedy *The Birds*, where birds build a city in the sky.

Often used dismissively.
