clinical screening

Diagnostic health check

Clinical screening is the systematic testing of individuals for diseases or conditions before symptoms appear.

Unlike diagnostic tests ordered after problems arise, screening targets apparently healthy populations to catch issues early: routine clinical screening for breast cancer, clinical screening programs for newborns.

The goal is intervention before a condition progresses.
