click wheels
Circular scroll interfaces
Click wheels are circular touch-sensitive controls that users rotate with a finger to scroll through menus or adjust settings.
The term is most associated with early iPod models, where the click wheel combined rotational scrolling with clickable buttons for navigation.
The design became iconic of mid-2000s portable electronics before touchscreens replaced it.
