claw foot
Curved furniture leg
A claw foot is a furniture leg ending in a carved claw gripping a ball, common on antique tables, chairs, and bathtubs: a claw-foot tub.
The design originated in Chinese furniture and became popular in 18th-century European and American pieces.
Also spelled claw-foot or clawfoot.
Separately, claw foot is a medical condition where the foot has an abnormally high arch and curled toes.
