class prejudice
Looking down economically
Class prejudice is bias or discrimination based on social or economic class—looking down on people for being poor, or resenting people for being wealthy.
Unlike racism or sexism, class prejudice often operates without explicit acknowledgment: The hiring committee's class prejudice showed in their dismissal of candidates from state schools.
It manifests in assumptions about intelligence, morality, or worth based on income, accent, education, or neighborhood.
