clamshell phones
Hinged mobile devices
Clamshell phones are mobile phones that fold in half along a hinge, like the two halves of a clam's shell.
The design protects the screen and keypad when closed and was dominant before touchscreen smartphones.
Also called flip phones: She still uses a clamshell phone because she likes the satisfying snap when ending calls.
