cinnamon tree

Bark-harvesting tropical plant

A cinnamon tree is the tropical evergreen from which cinnamon spice is harvested.

The bark is stripped, dried, and curled into the familiar cinnamon sticks used in cooking and baking.

Several species in the genus Cinnamomum yield the spice, with Ceylon cinnamon and cassia being the most commercially important.
