church register
Congregation's official ledger
A church register is an official record book maintained by a parish or congregation, documenting baptisms, marriages, burials, and sometimes confirmations.
These records, kept continuously by many churches since the 16th century, serve as primary sources for genealogical research and historical demography: She traced her ancestry through church registers back to 1650.
