change blindness
Missing obvious differences
Change blindness is the failure to notice significant alterations in a visual scene, especially when the change occurs during a brief interruption like a blink or camera cut.
The phenomenon reveals how much less we perceive than we assume: In the famous experiment, half the subjects didn't notice when the person they were talking to was replaced by someone else.
Psychologists study change blindness to understand attention and visual processing.
