cavity walls
Insulated building layers
Cavity walls are walls built in two parallel layers with an air gap between them.
The gap provides insulation and prevents moisture from penetrating to the interior.
Standard in modern construction, cavity walls can be filled with insulating material to improve energy efficiency: The contractor recommended filling the cavity walls with foam insulation.
