cassandra

Doubted doom predictor

In figurative use, a cassandra is someone who predicts disaster but isn't believed—often with the implication that they'll be proven right: She was the cassandra of the department, warning about the merger long before it failed.

The lowercase form is less common than the capitalized version but appears when emphasizing the type rather than the mythological figure. (Capitalized Cassandra is the Greek mythological figure or a given name.)
