cash account
Liquid funds record
A cash account is a brokerage account requiring full payment for securities at the time of purchase—no borrowing allowed.
This distinguishes it from a margin account, where investors can buy on credit.
The term also applies in accounting to any ledger tracking cash inflows and outflows: The cash account showed a balance of twelve thousand dollars.
