carry forward
Bring to next
Carry forward means to transfer a value, balance, or item from one period, page, or account to the next.
In accounting, you carry forward amounts that couldn't be fully applied in the current period, such as tax losses that offset future income: The company will carry forward its net operating loss to reduce next year's taxes.
More broadly, the phrase describes maintaining or continuing something into a new phase: We'll carry forward the momentum from this quarter.
