capitated
Fixed fee healthcare
Capitated describes a payment arrangement in healthcare where providers receive a fixed amount per patient for a set period, regardless of how many services that patient uses.
A doctor with a capitated contract gets the same monthly fee whether a patient visits ten times or not at all: capitated plans incentivize preventive care.
The term comes from the Latin for "head"—payment per head.
