cap-pistol
Cowboy costume accessory
A cap-pistol is a toy gun that makes a loud popping sound when fired, using small explosive caps—paper or plastic discs containing a tiny amount of impact-sensitive compound.
The smell of spent caps and the scattered red paper remnants are nostalgic for generations who played cowboys or cops and robbers.
Also called a cap gun.
