button eyes
Stuffed animal sight
Button eyes are small, round eyes that resemble buttons—dark, shiny, and lacking visible expression.
The term describes the beady eyes of stuffed animals and dolls, which often use actual buttons.
Applied to people or animals, it suggests eyes that are small, dark, and gleaming: The mouse watched us with its button eyes.
In horror contexts, button eyes evoke the uncanny—human forms with sewn-on eyes that see nothing.
