butterheads
Tender salad greens
Butterheads are a type of lettuce with soft, loosely folded leaves and a mild, slightly sweet flavor.
The name comes from the tender, buttery texture of the inner leaves.
Boston and Bibb are the most common varieties.
Butterhead also works as a mild insult for someone dim-witted: Don't be such a butterhead.
