buoyance

Ability to float

Buoyance is a rare variant of buoyancy, referring to the ability of an object to float in water or another fluid, or the upward force that a fluid exerts on an object immersed in it.

Like buoyancy, it extends to figurative uses describing a cheerful, resilient, or optimistic quality: the buoyance of her spirit lifted everyone around her.

The standard form buoyancy is far more common in both technical and everyday contexts.
