building services
Internal operational systems
Building services are the systems that make buildings functional and comfortable for occupants—electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire safety, and elevators.
The term appears in architecture, engineering, and property management: The building services need upgrading before we can lease the space.
In British usage, building services may also refer to the professionals who install and maintain these systems.
