brain fart

Sudden cognitive lapse

A brain fart is a sudden, momentary lapse in thinking—forgetting something obvious, saying something nonsensical, or making a careless mistake: Sorry, I just had a brain fart and called you by the wrong name.

The term is informal and mildly crude, treating mental glitches as embarrassing but harmless bodily functions.
