Library return chutes
Book drops are secure receptacles where library patrons can return borrowed materials when the library is closed.
Typically a slot or chute mounted in an exterior wall or freestanding box, they allow returns at any hour: I slid the books through the book drop on my way to work.
The term also refers to the act of depositing materials this way.
