bombproofs

Explosion-resistant military structures

Bombproofs are structures or shelters designed to withstand bomb explosions, particularly underground fortifications or reinforced bunkers.

In Civil War usage, the term also referred disparagingly to soldiers who avoided combat by taking safe positions behind the lines: The bombproofs stayed in the rear while we took fire.

As an adjective, bombproof describes anything built to resist explosive damage.
