blue point
Long Island bivalve
Blue point (also bluepoint) is a type of oyster from the Atlantic coast, originally from Blue Point, Long Island.
The name now applies broadly to any small Atlantic oyster of similar size and quality, regardless of origin: We started with a dozen blue points on the half shell.
Blue point also describes a color pattern in Siamese cats—pale body with grayish-blue extremities.
