birthday clown
Costumed celebration entertainer
A birthday clown is an entertainer hired to perform at children's birthday parties, typically wearing colorful makeup, a wig, and oversized costume while doing magic tricks, balloon animals, or comedy.
The figure has become a cultural symbol of forced cheerfulness and low-prestige work: He took a job as a birthday clown to pay rent.
In horror contexts, the birthday clown represents innocence turned sinister.
