bench rest
Rifle steadying platform
A bench rest is a support device used to stabilize a firearm while shooting, typically mounted on a shooting bench at a range.
It allows precise aiming by eliminating human tremor, used primarily for accuracy testing, scope zeroing, or competitive benchrest shooting.
The term also describes this style of shooting: He prefers bench rest to offhand shooting.
