beit din/beth din
Rabbinical judicial body
A beit din (also spelled beth din) is a Jewish court of law, traditionally composed of three rabbis who adjudicate matters of religious law, including divorce, conversion, and commercial disputes.
The term comes from Hebrew meaning "house of judgment." In modern practice, a beit din may oversee kosher certification or resolve civil matters through arbitration: The couple appeared before the beit din to finalize their religious divorce.
