bathroom pass

Lavatory leave slip

A bathroom pass is a physical token or written permission that allows a student to leave class to use the restroom.

In most schools, students must carry the pass in the hallway to show they have authorization to be out of the classroom: She raised her hand to ask for the bathroom pass.

The term sometimes extends figuratively to any permission for a brief absence.
