ballpark estimates

Numbers, not exact

Ballpark estimates are rough approximations rather than precise figures, close enough to be useful for planning or comparison.

The term comes from baseball—if a guess lands somewhere in the ballpark, it's in the right general area: Give me a ballpark estimate of what this will cost.

Also appears as a verb: Can you ballpark the timeline for me?
