bag lady
Street-dwelling woman
A bag lady is a homeless woman who carries her belongings in shopping bags or pushes them in a cart.
The term emerged in American cities in the late twentieth century and carries connotations of mental illness, poverty, and social abandonment: She worried about becoming a bag lady if she lost her job.
Sometimes used figuratively for anyone carrying too many bags.
