backstretches
Far side straights
Backstretches is the plural of backstretch, the straight section of a racetrack opposite the homestretch—the far side from the spectators and finish line.
By extension, the backstretch also refers to the stable area where horses are housed and trained: He spent years working on the backstretch before becoming a trainer.
