average velocity
Net speed, directional
Average velocity is the total displacement divided by the total time elapsed—a measure of how fast and in what direction something moved overall, regardless of variations along the way.
Unlike average speed, which ignores direction, average velocity accounts for it: The car's average velocity was 60 kilometers per hour northward.
If you end up where you started, your average velocity is zero, even if you traveled far.
