auto-tuning
Self-correcting pitch software
Auto-tuning is the process of a system adjusting its own parameters for optimal performance.
In audio production, Auto-Tune (a trademark now used generically) is pitch-correction software that shifts vocal notes to the nearest correct pitch.
Used subtly, it smooths imperfections; used aggressively, it creates the robotic vocal effect heard in much contemporary pop and hip-hop: That singer is so auto-tuned you can't tell what their real voice sounds like.
