asymptomatic spread
Contagion without symptoms
Asymptomatic spread is the transmission of a disease by someone showing no symptoms.
The term gained widespread use during the COVID-19 pandemic, when infected people could unknowingly pass the virus to others: Asymptomatic spread made the outbreak difficult to contain.
The concept complicates public health measures, since carriers don't know they're contagious.
