asexualize

To asexualize something is to remove or suppress its sexual character.

Media may asexualize characters by eliminating romantic storylines.

Institutions asexualize spaces or relationships by enforcing boundaries against sexual expression: The dress code was designed to asexualize the workplace.

People may be asexualized through stereotypes that deny their sexuality—the elderly, the disabled, or certain racial groups historically subject to desexualizing assumptions.
