anticatalyst
Slows chemical processes
An anticatalyst is a substance that slows or inhibits a chemical reaction, the opposite of a catalyst.
Also called a negative catalyst or inhibitor.
The term occasionally appears in figurative use for anything that impedes progress or prevents change: His pessimism was an anticatalyst for the team's momentum.
