alloweth

Doth give leave

Alloweth is an archaic form of *allows*, using the third-person singular ending *-eth* that was standard in Early Modern English.

It appears primarily in the King James Bible and other texts from that era: The law alloweth no such thing.

The form survives mainly in religious contexts and deliberate archaism.
