allopath
Non-holistic medical practitioner
An allopath is a practitioner of conventional Western medicine, as distinguished from homeopathy or other alternative approaches.
The term was coined by homeopaths in the 19th century to characterize mainstream physicians as treating symptoms with remedies that produce different effects from the disease itself.
Most medical doctors today would simply call themselves physicians; allopath remains primarily a term used by practitioners of alternative medicine.
