air hostesses
Flight attendants, female
Air hostesses is the plural of air hostess, a somewhat dated term for a female flight attendant.
The term was standard from the 1930s through the 1970s, when airlines employed only women in the role: The air hostesses served drinks and demonstrated safety procedures.
Now largely replaced by the gender-neutral flight attendant.
