aggravated

Irritated and intensified

Aggravated intensifies wrongdoing or injury.

An aggravated assault involves circumstances that make it more serious than simple assault—use of a weapon, intent to commit another crime, or attack on a protected person.

Aggravated can also mean irritated or annoyed: I was aggravated by the constant delays.

Legal and informal uses coexist, though purists sometimes object to the irritation sense.
