account closure
Shutting down profile
Account closure is the formal process of terminating a financial account—bank account, credit card, investment account, or similar.
The closure may be initiated by the account holder or by the institution itself: I requested account closure after the fees increased.
Closure typically involves withdrawing remaining funds, settling outstanding balances, and completing paperwork.
The account remains on record for reporting purposes even after closure.
