abstract drawing
Shapes, not scenes
Abstract drawing is visual art that doesn't attempt to represent recognizable objects or scenes from the physical world.
Instead, it uses shapes, lines, colors, and forms for their own expressive or aesthetic qualities: Her abstract drawings featured bold geometric patterns.
The term distinguishes such work from representational or figurative drawing.
