WASD
Keyboard movement cluster
WASD refers to the four keyboard keys arranged in an inverted T pattern on standard QWERTY keyboards, used for movement controls in video games—W moves forward, A moves left, S moves backward, D moves right.
This layout became standard because it mirrors arrow key positions while keeping the left hand free for other controls: WASD and mouse is the classic PC gaming setup.
