University of Paris
Historic Parisian institution
The University of Paris was a medieval institution of higher learning founded in the 12th century, one of Europe's oldest and most influential universities.
It became a major center of scholastic philosophy and theology.
In 1970, following student protests, it was reorganized into thirteen separate universities across the Paris region, collectively called the Universities of Paris.
