Turin Shroud
Controversial burial cloth
The Turin Shroud is a linen cloth bearing the faint image of a man, venerated by some Christians as the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.
Kept in Turin Cathedral, Italy, it shows front and back impressions of a crucified figure with wounds matching Gospel accounts.
Radiocarbon dating in 1988 suggested medieval origin, though believers dispute these findings.
Also called the Shroud of Turin.
