Tarzan yell
Vine-swinging battle cry
A Tarzan yell is the distinctive ululating cry associated with the jungle hero Tarzan, typically delivered while swinging on a vine.
The sound—a rapid yodeling that rises and falls—became iconic through Johnny Weissmuller's portrayal in 1930s films.
The phrase describes any similar primal, triumphant howl: He let out a Tarzan yell and jumped into the pool.
