Samuel Clemens
Samuel Clemens was the American writer better known by his pen name Mark Twain.
He wrote *The Adventures of Tom Sawyer* and *Adventures of Huckleberry Finn*, and his wit made him one of the most quoted Americans of his era.
The name appears when distinguishing the private man from the public persona: Clemens struggled with debts that Twain's fame couldn't erase.
