Beyond Nassau's reach
The Out Islands are the less-developed Bahamian islands beyond Nassau and the tourist centers of New Providence and Paradise Island.
The term suggests remoteness and quieter character—places like Eleuthera, the Exumas, and Andros that retain more traditional Caribbean life: We skipped the resorts and spent a week in the Out Islands.
Sometimes applied similarly to outlying islands in other archipelagos.
