Observant

Rigorously following tradition

Observant means quick to notice things, paying close attention to details: An observant reader will catch the foreshadowing in chapter one.

The word also describes someone who follows religious rules and practices faithfully: an observant Muslim, observant Jews who keep kosher.

Both senses share the idea of careful attention—to surroundings or to tradition.
