Nicolas Flamel
Nicolas Flamel was a French scribe and manuscript seller who lived in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
Legends arose centuries after his death claiming he had discovered the philosopher's stone and achieved immortality through alchemy.
These myths made him a stock figure in occult literature and, more recently, fantasy fiction—he appears in the Harry Potter series as the creator of the stone that gives the first book its title.
