Mesa Verde
Colorado ancestral ruins
Mesa Verde is a national park in southwestern Colorado containing well-preserved cliff dwellings built by the Ancestral Puebloans between roughly 600 and 1300 CE.
The Spanish name means "green table," describing the forested plateau where the ruins sit.
The site represents the largest and most significant collection of ancient pueblo architecture in the United States: We visited the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde.
